Happy Holidays!

I would like to wish all of my past, present and future clients a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I was on my way home from shopping the day before Christmas Eve and noticed a beautiful sunset starting to form. I went home and grabbed my husband, son and camera to go take photos for pleasure instead of business. It was a nice time and the sunset turned out to be amazing! There were geese flying everywhere - see if you can find both flocks in the first image. I had forgotten how cold it was and by the time we were finished, I thought my hands would fall off.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these images because it isn't often that I have time to photograph scenics!

Kyle and Kim's Wedding

Kyle and Kim were married on December 15th at The Discovery Lodge. They planned a Winter Wonderland themed wedding in royal blue and silver which was absolutely stunning! Snow was predicted for the day of their wedding so I was very hopeful to finally be able to photograph a "snow bride". Well, all we had that day was rain and it did snow, but a day late. We were hoping for a day after session in the snow, but it didn't stick around long with the sunny day we had. Despite our weather mishaps, we were able to get some nice images and even went outside for a few. It was cold though so we didn't stay for long! After the wedding, Kim was a real trooper and even walked barefoot across the pavement to keep from getting her wedding slippers soaked. Kyle and Kim were such a pleasure to work with!

Child Labor

I am working on a project to burn and print 500 dvd's for Superbride Sunday. I am doing them myself because it was VERY expensive to have it done and I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. Well, my 10 year old nephew graciously offered to help me out (if I paid him) since he was saving up his money to buy an Xbox. So, he came over on his half day off from school last week and we finished up about 150 of them. I still have a long way to go, but at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel. As of today, I have all of them burned and still have 250 to print. Maybe I can put my 4 year old son to work too! :)

Here are 400 of them stacked up. I guess I should have stacked them all up to show how many there really were.

Nick...hard at work!

Ahhhhhhh! Progress...

My poor little dvd burner sure is working overtime!

Christina and Jay E-session

Back on November 1st, I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful couple for the first time. Until now, all of my communication has been with their wedding planner, Veronica Hamilton with V&Co. Christina and Jay are both in the military and are stationed in Japan so this was their first of two trips home before the wedding. We had an awesome time in downtown Evansville for their engagement shoot and even had an inside scoop when we found out that Christina's stylist "knew someone" at the Old Courthouse. We were able to get inside and got some amazing shots with natural light, which is my favorite shooting style. It was very hard to edit this shoot because there just wasn't a bad shot of either one of them! I am really looking forward to their wedding day in May 2008.

Rebecca and Bruce

Well, I have to say that Rebecca and Bruce far exceeded my expectations of a "Simple Elegance" wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better day in November. It was warm and there were many beautiful fall leaves still on the trees. Their wedding day began at St. John the Baptist in Newburgh with a beautiful bride and a handsome groom. We went from the church to Rolling Hills Country Club for a very elegant and intimate reception with their friends and family. Rolling Hills had a golf cart ready for us to take to the lake for some photos. I forgot to mention that since April couldn't be with me on this wedding, I talked hubby into coming along and helping me. Since he isn't the photographer in the family, I have to say that I am impressed with many of the shots that he took for me. I just wish he would agree to come along more often, but he says that is one too many days of me telling him what to do.

Congratulations to Rebecca and Bruce! You may click here if you want to see the rest of their wedding images.

Jessica & Andy

Jessica and Andy had a beautiful wedding on October 20th at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Jessica is a very detail-oriented person who called me on several occasions to make sure that I would be able to capture the details of her day that she worked so hard to plan. So, on her special day, I made sure that I photographed every little detail and even caught a couple of shots of the happy couple enjoying their day. Thanks guys for allowing me to share your day with you!

The things we do for love.....(a.k.a. our clients)

Last weekend, my friend Matt helped me shoot Ward and Heather's wedding. Here are a couple of shots that he took of me "working. Keep in mind, I am just under 5 foot tall and the tires on this truck are almost as tall as me. I had fun climbing and luckily, I didn't fall and kill myself. :)

Making sure I have my footing. If this truck would have moved an inch, my escape plan was to dive forward!

Getting the shot...

Ward and Heather

After working with Ward and Heather on their engagement photos and custom guest book, I was very excited to photograph their wedding. Well, they didn't disappoint! It was a beautiful day with a gorgeous bride and a handsome groom. The most unique part of their day was the "getaway semi". Yes, you heard me, they had a flat-bed semi-truck and trailer take them to their reception. Their wedding was held at Saints Peter and Paul in Haubstadt. The wedding party made a stop along the way at Hornville Tavern for a few drinks. Rumour has it that Ward's name is on the wall. I wonder what for? We then headed for the reception which was held at the newly remodeled Knights of St. John in St. Wendel. I was pleasantly surprised!

Congrats to Ward and Heather!

Michael and Jennie

My first trip to Vincennes couldn't have been any better! I only live one hour from this beautiful place and I now wonder, why haven't I been there before? Michael and Jennie were married at the beautiful St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. After their ceremony, we visited the George Rogers Clark Memorial which is such a beautiful place for pictures! I could have spent all day there with this wonderful couple taking photos but it was 90 degrees and they told me they had a reception to attend. Oh well! I think we got some nice photos in the short time that we did spend there. Click here if you would like to see them.

Mike and Stephanie

Do you believe in fate? Well, I do now! Last summer I was shopping for sparklers for my sister's wedding at State Line Fireworks when I met Stephanie. I was talking about my sister's big day and that I was also the photographer and Stephanie told me she would be getting married in 2007. I gave her my card and we met later and she booked me as her photographer. The "fateful" day was when we did the Engagement Session at Audubon Park. Mike and Stephanie fell in love with the park and asked me if they did weddings there. I referred them to the office and they booked Audubon that day for their wedding. I was very excited since I have done many portraits there but never a wedding. Fast forward to 9/29/07...a beautiful, not too warm, sunny, September day with a couple who could not be more in love! It was a wonderful day and we even saw Elvis during a photo session at Burdette Park. Who could ask for more on their special day?

Same blog, new look!

I was playing around with the settings on my blog this morning and found that I can change the colors around. I really liked the blue, but it didn't match my website at all! Now, when you leave my website and go to my blog, it is almost like you never left. (and I hope that is a GOOD thing!)

Mike and Wendy

Mike and Wendy were married at Friendship Southern Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. The church was pretty small so we took a little excursion downtown and did all of the photographs before the wedding. It was a beautiful fall day (even though it is still summer) and we were able to capture some amazing images of this happy couple! After the wedding, we headed over to West Haven Chalet for the reception and some more photos of Mike and Wendy. They even stood in some tall grass for me, but Wendy warned me that if she saw a snake I would be in TROUBLE! We managed to get through all of the photos with no snake sightings and even got some photos of Mike and Wendy with their adorable daughter, Carley.

Josh and Anna

What a wonderful couple! Josh and Anna were married outdoors at The Discovery Lodge with the reception held indoors following the ceremony. We did things a bit differently than usual - after the ceremony the newlyweds, bridal party, myself and April, my assistant, all piled in the Hummer limo and went downtown for a fun photo session. As we were heading for the park, our driver took a detour to the riverfront to take some photos. I didn't realize we were going there and when I turned around to look out the front to see where we were all I could see was the water and we were headed down a steep hill. It kinda freaked me out for a second and then one of the bridal party gals said "I can see it now...bridal party drowns in river on wedding day!" So, on my first limo ride I would have made the front page headlines! Well, needless to say, our driver got us safely to the riverfront and it just "looked" like we were heading into the river. We got some awesome shots there and then went to my favorite park downtown to finish up. When we got back to the Lodge, we had a few formals of family to finish up and then it was time to PARTY! And boy, did this group let loose! We had a wonderful time photographing your wedding, Josh and Anna, and hope you enjoy viewing the pictures as much as we enjoyed taking them.

Update on Wolfgang Wind Ensemble

As many of you know, I play flute and piccolo in a local wind ensemble called Wolfgang. We are getting ready to gear up for our fall season, so if any of my loyal lurkers out there play a musical instrument, dig it out of the closet, dust it off and come join us! We start back up on September 7th at Old North United Methodist Church from 5:30 - 7:30.

Here are a couple of photos from our recent appearance at the West Side Starbucks. This is a woodwind sextet from within our ensemble and this was our first appearance. Our plan is to take this group on the road and play in some smaller public places.

Here is the group playing our opening number.

Our fearless leader, Mr. Noon.
Here is one of our groupies (a.k.a. my son) standing on his head. We must be pretty good if we can get the crowd standing on their heads!
Here I am playing flute with our pianist, Nancy. We had a request to play an encore and I didn't have music so I am reading piano music.
Lastly, here is a link to Stars and Stripes Forever, from our Summer Concert, where I am playing the infamous piccolo solo. Enjoy!

Randy and Tina

On August 25th, I photographed Randy and Tina's wedding at Crossroads Christian Church, which is my home church. This is the first wedding I have photographed in the new chapel and I must say...I am impressed! Of course, with Saundra Hadley as the wedding planner, what could go wrong? The wedding went off without a hitch (actually, they got hitched) and then it was off to the Executive Inn for a nightclub themed reception. The reception was amazing! This was the first reception that I have photographed that had professional lighting and it made all the difference in the world! Congrats Randy and Tina!

Rhett and Amanda

On August 18th, I had the pleasure of photographing this wonderful couple's wedding at St. Boniface. Their reception was held at The Evansville Country Club which was filled with beautiful flowers. We were even able to get out to the golf course for some fun pictures of the bridal party. You may view the rest of Rhett and Amanda's pictures here:

Here Kitty, Kitty!

One of my past clients, Amy Spaetti, works at Greenbriar Animal Hospital and had told me about these little beauties that one of the vet techs found under her house with no mother. Well, the ladies at Greenbriar took turns bottle feeding and taking care of these kittens until now, when they are ready for homes.

As most of you know, we just got a new kitten a couple of months ago. Well, yesterday was D-day for him because he had to go to the vet to get declawed and neutered.

So, when I dropped Koda off at the vet on Tuesday, I knew that these little kittens were there but what I was unprepared for is that I wanted to take all of them home! I went home that evening and jokingly told David that we left one cat and got another one and he was NOT happy. Since I can't have one of these little cuties, I told the staff at Greenbriar that I would get the word out to all of my clients and see if we could find them all homes. There are four cute little yellow tabbies left: male - longhair, female - shorthair, 2 females - longhair. So, if you or anyone that you know are looking for a cuddly new roommate, call Greenbriar Animal Hospital at 479-0867.

Dan and Nichole

On August 4th, Dan and Nichole were married at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Their wedding was flawless and this couple is so obviously in love. They were a joy to work with and I feel like their photos reflect that. The reception was at The Discovery Lodge and I must say, the place was decorated wonderfully!

WOW!

...all I can say is WOW! Here is a shot of my beautiful bride from today's wedding. I will have a slideshow of Dan and Nichole's wedding posted later this week. I was so excited after the wedding tonight that I had to get home and start processing some images and this one really caught my attention.

Kyle and Kim

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a wonderful couple's engagement session. We went to all of my favorite spots downtown and they even got their dogs in on the fun. We were able to capture some awesome images and I am really looking forward to their wedding in December. Who knows - maybe their wedding images will look much "whiter". Just kidding guys!

Upcoming Wolfgang Classical Wind Ensemble Concerts

I previously introduced the wind ensemble that I play in on my blog. We are now ending our summer season with two upcoming concerts. The first will be on Wednesday, August 1st, at First United Methodist in Mt. Vernon, IN. The second concert will be at our home church, Old North United Methodist in Evansville, IN on Sunday, August 5th. The church is located on Stringtown Road just past the Evansville Country Club. Our program for summer will consist of a few classics along with several patriotic tunes. We would love for you to sit, relax and enjoy some nice music with us.

Here is Finale from Tchaichovsky's 4th Symphony from our spring concert:

And here are the photos from our Summer Concert on August 5th:

Jacob and Tiffany

On July 21st, Jacob and Tiffany were married at St. Philip Catholic Church. It was a beautiful day for such a happy couple. They had their reception in the church gym complete with a live band and plenty to eat and drink.

New Addition!

...and no, it isn't a baby. About a month ago, Andrew, my 4 year old and I decided to go "look" at the kitties at Animal Control. Well, after 3 visits to this one particular tabby kitten, we brought him home. He has definitely livened up the household and our 8 year old cat, Mocha, is finally starting to warm up to him. He just wants to play and she just wants to be left alone. So, she will try to sneak across the living room and Koda will pounce on her back and ride her like he is on a horse until she runs under a chair and knocks him off. I will have to try to photograph that moment! Here is a shot of him by our front door longing to be outside. I love when kitten's eyes change...in this shot his eyes are changing from blue to gold and they kind of look green too. This little guy is eating us out of the house. He had gone from 2 pounds to 4.5 pounds in one month.

Bruce and Rebecca

From the first moment I met with Bruce and Rebecca, something just clicked. I cannot wait to shoot their wedding on November 3rd. They are planning a "Simple Elegance" styled wedding which is right up my alley. We had such a great time in downtown Newburgh doing their engagement shoot and Bruce kept telling me he was having fun, so I knew I must be doing something right. I am sure Rebecca will make a beautiful bride and Bruce will look just as handsome in his tux. With summer half over, November will be here before we know it!

The rest of Bruce and Rebecca's photos are here: http://www.bruceandrebecca.weddingherald.com/

Tyler and Amy

On June 30th, I photographed a wonderful couple's wedding in Henderson, KY. The wedding was held at First Assembly of God and the reception was at Wolf's Banquet Hall. The bride and her family did a wonderful job with the decorations in the church and Wolf's is such an elegant place for a reception. Tyler and Amy were obviously very much in love and I believe it shows in their photographs. You can take a look for yourself at the following link: www.smithhartwedding.weddingherald.com

Happy 4th of July!

Yesterday, I decided to take a camera with me to the fireworks since I seem to never have time to take pictures as a hobby anymore. Here are a few of my favorite photos of the fireworks and a link the the rest of them, just in case anyone wants to take a look. http://www.fireworks.photoherald.com/

I can't remember the name of this plane, but it is the one that flew at the Balloon Glow and it shot off fireworks in the sky as it flew. I had never seen anything like this!

Thought for the day...

As I work on album designs, occasionally, I will search the web for a quote or poem to add onto the page. In my search this morning, I ran across a very interesting "quote". I never knew the "requirements" or hidden meanings within "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue". So, this is for my future brides who can now spend even more time finding the perfect old, new, borrowed and blue items!

Something old,
Something new,
Something borrowed,
Something blue,
And a sixpence in the shoe.

In the United States the last line reads:
...And a new dime in the shoe.

The "old" must be something which has belonged to a happily married woman. The wearing of such an item insures a lucky transfer of happiness to the new bride. The "new" is the wedding gown, the shoes, or other apparel of the bride. The "borrowed" must be some object of gold to guarantee wealth and fortune in the future. The "blue" is symbolic of the heavens and also of true love. The "sixpence" or "new dime" must be worn in the heel of the left shoe to insure wealth and prosperity.

Mike and Emily

Mike and Emily were married on June 23rd at Christian Fellowship Church. They were such a great couple to work with and so were their families. The couple decided to see each other before the ceremony which was perfect because it gave them some "alone-time" and we were able to take all of the photos before the ceremony so that their guests didn't have to wait for them to arrive at the reception. Cambridge Country Club was the beautiful location of their reception. It is pretty new to the Evansville area and this was the first time I had been there. I was very impressed - the food was great, the clubhouse was beautiful and the staff was very accomodating. I highly recommend Cambridge to anyone looking for a nice reception venue for 300 or less guests.

Chris and Sarah

Chris and Sarah were married on June 23rd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with their reception at The Evansville Country Club. They were such a loving couple and every so often, I would catch them stealing moments with each other. We went out to the golf course during the reception to take a few "fun" bridal party shots and the guys ended up in a driving contest with the loser having to serve beer to the other guys the rest of the night. I don't remember who won, but I believe Sarah gave Chris a little distraction while he was hitting.

You can view the rest of their wedding at the following link:

http://gilliamwedding.weddingherald.com/

Two days prior to the wedding, we did some family portraits at Garvin Park for the Hudson Family since everyone from out of town was in for the wedding. We had to hurry up to get the session done in between rain showers, but it went off without a hitch! You can take a look at their famly portraits here:

Ann and Chris - Part II

Back in February, I photographed Ann and Chris' wedding in New Harmony. I knew that they had their wedding reception scheduled for June but I didn't know if I would be available to shoot it. So, a couple of days before the reception Ann called me and luckily I was available to shoot this fun event. The reception was held at The Players Club in Henderson, KY. We started the evening with rain but then it cleared off so that they could have the chipping contest that they had planned. The way this worked is that each person paid to hit their ball from the clubhouse onto the 18th green that was lit up like a runway, then the winner got half of the pot and the couple got the other half. Well, the lucky winner ended up giving his half of the pot to Ann and Chris which was completely unexpected!

Randy & Tina are Engaged!

Randy and Tina are planning to marry on August 25, 2007 at Crossroads Christian Church, which happens to be my home church. I am very excited about their wedding as it will be the first one that I have had the pleasure of photographing in the new chapel! I will also be working with Saundra Hadley who will be planning and coordinating their wedding day. You can visit Saundra's website here: http://planningforever.com

Randy and Tina chose my Urban Engagement Session and have also requested that I design the Guest Book. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of their Guest Book which should be here any day now!

Michael & Jennie are Engaged!

Michael and Jennie plan to be married at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Vincennes, IN on October 6, 2007. We had such a wonderful time at Audubon Park photographing their engagements and I look forward to their upcoming fall wedding. Time to catch up on blogging!

WOW! June is just flying by and I have been a very busy girl. I have photographed a wedding reception, three weddings and two engagements and I still have one more wedding to go this month, which is why I am a bit behind in my "storytelling". I will be posting several events today to get caught back up.

We also bought a new car this month and had to go to Illinois last week to pick it up. My husband has been after me for the past six months about replacing his truck that he had driven for the past ten years. He said either he gets a new vehicle or he gets my 4Runner. The problem with that was that I really LIKE my 4Runner and wasn't going to give it up without a fight! So, I told him that I would let him have it IF I could get a yellow Nissan Xterra. Several of my closest friends and family know that I have wanted one for the past four years so they were not surprised to hear that was the only way I would give up my 4Runner. So, we set out looking for one on the internet and found it at Monken Nissan in Centralia, IL.

http://monken1.com/

Randy Heuberger was our salesman and was a pleasure to work with, especially since most of the "dealing" was done through phone and email. So, if you are looking for a new or used car and don't mind driving a couple of hours, Randy is the man!

Here are a couple of pics of the Xterra that Randy emailed me. I thought I would use his since this is probably the cleanest this baby will ever look!

I will never again lose my car in the Walmart parking lot.

Joe & Natalie's Wedding

On May 26th, I had the pleasure of photographing Joe and Natalie's wedding at Bauer's Grove. The wedding colors were among my favorites - hot pink and tan. Actually, this is the first wedding I have shot where the tuxes were anything but black. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of their colors. The wedding was outdoors and it couldn't have been a more beautiful day!

Here is a slideshow telling part of their wedding story:

My First Slideshow

I have been working most of the weekend on this and I believe I am ready to show my first slideshow. This one is from my sister's wedding last weekend - Craig & Candice. From now on, I will post a slideshow of my favorites from each wedding instead of individual images. Enjoy!

Craig and Candice got hitched!

On Saturday, May 19th, my little sister got married at Bethel United Church of Christ. They had their reception at Kirby's in downtown Evansville which, by the way, always has wonderful food! It was a very exciting day for everyone involved, especially for me who played many roles in the wedding like - photographer, coordinator, chauffeur, family member, mommy to my little ring bearer and many other things. It was a very exhausting and long day for me but also very rewarding because I was able to capture all of the wonderful moments for my sister's perfect wedding day. Soon they will be off to Yale for Craig to finish school and she will be greatly missed here at home!

You may view their wedding images here: http://www.fehrman2wedding.weddingherald.com/ and here: www.fehrman3wedding.weddingherald.com (keep in mind that I was at their wedding 12 hours, not including the rehearsal, and we had three photographers that day so there are a BUNCH more images than usual)

I also want to send out a special THANKS to my good friend and fellow photographer, Pat McDonald, who took over the formal photography at this wedding to allow me to capture many candid moments. I also want to THANK my assistant, April Nordenbrock, who helps me at almost every wedding with gathering and posing people for formals and many of the details and organization that goes on behind the scenes at every wedding. Did I mention that she takes photographs too? April got some awesome candids for me at the reception too! I could NOT have done this wedding without these two ladies!! I do feel sorry for Craig and Candice, though, who had the paparazzi following them around all day......but I think they will be happy when they see their images!

This is my favorite image of Candice:
My cute little ring bearer:
WOW! I can't pick a favorite of Craig and Candice since there are just too many! We spent about an hour in the park downtown after the wedding taking photos.
Here are a couple of my faves:

Congrats to Zach & Amy!

Wow! It amazes me how time slips away from me during my busy season. I photographed this beautiful couple's wedding back on April 28th and I just realized today that I never put their story on my blog. The wedding and reception were at St. Joseph Catholic Church (in the county) which was one of the few churches I have never shot at. Well, I was amazed at the beauty of the church and what great architecture and lighting it has. The wedding was wonderful and Zach and Amy even trekked through an old cemetery to get to an awesome gazebo for some more photos.
Usually I create my blog entry before I design the couple's collage, but since I did everything a little backwards on the processing of this wedding, I am posting the collage that I designed for Zach & Amy's proof magazine.

Dan and Nichole are engaged!

Last weekend I had a wonderful time in downtown Evansville photographing Dan and Nichole's engagement photos. They are planning to marry in August at the beautiful St. Boniface Catholic Church on Evansville's West side. They are such a great couple and by the end of the session Nichole was getting pretty good at modeling and even posing Dan. We had an awesome time and I am looking forward to their wedding day. What is Wolfgang?

Wolfgang Classical Wind Ensemble is where I spend my Friday evenings. I bet many of you didn't know that I am also a musician. I guess it is just the "artist" in me that drew me to pull my flute out after twelve years of not playing it. I have now been playing for the past nine years and just last October, I joined Wolfgang and am now playing flute and piccolo there. On Wednesday night we had our K.V. Bryant Memorial concert in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. We will be playing again this Sunday evening on May 6th at 7:00 pm at Old North United Methodist Church on Stringtown Road (it is right past Evansville Country Club). So, if you have nothing better to do on a Sunday evening, come on over and enjoy some nice classical music. You can read more about the group here: http://noonsmusic.com/id21.html

Ward and Heather are Engaged!

Yesterday I did an engagement shoot for a wonderful couple, Ward and Heather, who are getting married in October. We had a blast wandering around Downtown Evansville looking for landmarks and nice green grass which we haven't seen for awhile. We ended our morning at Ri'Ra', an Irish Pub that just opened. It is beautifully decorated and they were very accomodating and allowed us to take some photos in their lobby. I left the happy couple in the bar about to enjoy their brunch. I look forward to the wedding this fall!
