Our Poor Tree

Last Sunday's storm wrecked havoc on our backyard. We watched our tree come apart piece by piece. The funny thing is that we were marveling at the big chunks coming out of it and how they missed our fence, swingset, landscaping and power lines. Just when I had made that comment to David, I heard a loud pop and 1/2 the tree fell down onto our power lines. It was Friday night before we had power restored since we were the only house on the street that was out. Luckily our neighbor was gracious enough to let us plug our fridge into their garage so I have had a fun week swiping the extension cord off the fridge so that I could run my computer. Here are a few pics of the damage and clean up efforts.

This is only 1/3 of the tree. I put my shoe on top to show how big this section of the tree was.

I am not sure what kind of bug this is, but he was very content sitting on top of the log left from our tree. Maybe he is now homeless.

Elisabeth + Jeremy

Elisabeth and Jeremy were married on Saturday at The Old Courthouse. They had a beautiful outdoor wedding complete with a miniature bride and groom in fur coats (see images below). I have known Elisabeth for 10 years so my husband and son were invited to this one. Andrew had a blast dancing at the reception. He tore up the dance floor (not literally) and was the center of attention at times. I am so happy that Elisabeth found Jeremy and it was obvious that they are very much in love.

There is actually a funny story behind this image. The doggies were thirsty and they didn't know how to drink bottled water, so we used my flash diffuser out of my camera bag. Baxter really appreciated the drink!

Lilly has arrived!

I photographed Katie and Kelley's wedding almost 2 years ago and I just found out recently that they were expecting. On Thursday, Katie and her sister came over to have me take a photo of their pregnant bellies and then on Friday, Katie had her baby. It was a welcome change photographing a little girl since I am always around little boys.

Ethan 09/08

Yesterday, I visited Ethan again, but I was disappointed because I missed his feeding. He was asleep so he pretty much looks the same in every picture...just like a little baby doll!

Jennifer + Ben

Yesterday, Jennifer and Ben were married at Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church. They had a full house at this little country church. Ben's family is into farming so they had the most unusual getaway vehicle that I have ever seen. They called it a "Hagie" and it was big! I am quite sure that Ben could have just driven over the cars in the church lot without damaging them. We took a few fun pictures with the Hagie at the Warrick County 4H Center before entering the reception for dinner and dancing. Ben's dad passed down the family beer mug that had been in their family for 40 years and Jennifer's dad announced that she was the prettiest girl he had ever walked down the aisle in THAT direction. Congratulations Jennifer and Ben!

Ethan 08/31

Well, I made my weekly trip to see Ethan a day early since tomorrow is a holiday. I timed it just perfect because it was feeding time. The nurse checked his heartbeat, changed his diaper and wiped his mouth while getting him ready for feeding time. This made for a perfect opportunity to get some great shots. In fact, I believe these are the best ones yet. Since Ethan was awake, we tried my son's baby ring on his big toe again and I do believe that he is getting bigger. One of my favorite shots is where he has his hands held out as if to say "Go away lady - no more pictures." He probably thinks I am the paparazzi coming to photograph him every week.

Ethan 08/25

I went to see Ethan again today and he is getting bigger. I have known Ethan's dad since he was very little. I have memories of him at age 3 riding kiddie rides at Holiday World. Our parents were close friends growing up. Today Ethan had a look on his face and I had a revelation - he looks just like his dad! Anyway, he was very wiggly today and kept moving his hands around so I have lots of hand pictures. He also smiled at me. I know, most people say it is just gas, but it kinda makes you melt when someone so little smiles at you. Here are a few more of my favorites from today's visit. I almost forgot...he was blowing spit bubbles at me too. He must have wanted me to get the camera out of his face and let him sleep.
