Katie and Jake were married last weekend at The Overlook by Casino Aztar. It turned out to be a beautiful day (not as hot as July was) and the wedding went perfectly! The reception was originally going to be under the stars but a tent was added that week and was the perfect touch to an outdoor reception. Big Slick rocked the tent with a variety of music and kept everyone on the dance floor. It was an amazing day and a truly wonderful and happy couple!

This is Blake. I have been photographing Blake since he was born 8 years ago. We figured out today that this is most likely portrait session number 13 or maybe 14. He is quite the ham! He never wants to get his portraits taken, but he always ends up having a blast. Of course, it helps that we always do something fun at the end. Today he played in the fountain at Garvin Park. I promise we did not "wade" in the fountain (there was a "no wading" sign). :)

Brittney and Jimmy were married just before Valentine's Day in a romantic setting at The Kingmen's Event Facility. They chose a black and white theme for their day which I just adored. We started out at Brittney's parents' home with a few family pics and then the happy couple had their "first look" in the family's Steelers den. Brittney's parents just built this amazing home and I was so lucky to be able to take so many of their photos there. Their little dog Maggie even got in on some action. The getaway truck was decorated to the hilt - complete with mountain bikes for their honeymoon. You can check out the rest of their pictures on the website. Congrats Brittney and Jimmy - many happy years as you begin your new life together!

I just now realized that I had Krista and Jon's pictures all ready to post to the blog, but I never posted. I guess Christmas and New Year's snuck up on me and took all my time. So, without further ado....

Krista and Jon were married on December 19th at Crossroads Christian Church with the reception following at The Holiday Inn. I had so much fun with these guys! I have known Krista's family for almost 15 years and even though I just met Jon, it felt like I had know him just as long. Krista's dad is our orchestra director at Crossroads. They had an amazing ceremony and even though there were a couple of snags with missing undergarments and a missing cake, their marriage went off without a hitch (no pun intended). There was a live band at the reception which made for a wonderful night of dancing.

Katie and Jason were married on October 16th. They had the most beautiful weather for a mid-October wedding! We started off at Bangz Salon for some fun times and fun hair-doos. They were married at Bethel UCC and then the party started in The Walnut Room at Casino Aztar. This was one of the few weddings that we were able to work it out for me to ride in the limo. It was a blast and we caught a great sunset downtown before heading on to the reception. I have gotten to know Katie's family pretty well since photographing her sister's wedding about 5 years ago and these guys sure rocked out their reception! Congratulations Katie and Jason!

Katie and Wade were married last weekend at St. Joseph Catholic Church. It was a beautiful day for a very romantic couple. The wedding was followed by a wonderful meal at Rolling Hills Country Club, which always has top notch service. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Casey + Cole {evansville wedding photographer}

Casey and Cole were married at Bethel United Church of Christ on 9/18/10. It was a lovely day for a wedding and with such a fun-loving couple, there was no way I could NOT have a great time!

Casey has a picture with her Grandpa when she was little wearing orange rubber boots so her mom ordered her some for her wedding day.

This was the first appearance of the rubber chicken...

These guys like to goof around a lot and I caught them making faces at each other.
Don't think that Cole is the innocent one either.

I loved the groom's cake. Of course, it does help that I am a Colts fan too.
The bridal party each got a mug with a chalk board and something interesting written on it. (Some of them were not rated PG!)
The purse at the table was Cole's. There was something said about a detective kit that he might need.
When the couple is holding cake in the air like this, you know there is gonna be some good old-fashioned cake-smashin'.

I guess you could say I am almost related to Casey. Her dad Tim and I used to be roomies and he is the closest I have ever come to having a brother.
OK...seriously, Casey and her mom needed an entire box of tissues for their dance. :)
The chicken even came out of hiding to dance a little "Chicken Dance"!

There was a roller skating bridal party....'Nuff said!

Everytime I look at this I can't get that song out of my head...."You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling". Yep...they sang it!

Charlotte's Recital

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending my friend Rita's daughter Charlotte's Flute Recital. I have played with Rita in the flute choir at First Presbyterian Church for the past year and had only met Charlotte online through Facebook. This was our first "in person" meeting and I am astounded at how well she plays the flute and piccolo. Charlotte just graduated her senior year of high school from Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and is headed to Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY this fall to begin her college career. This young lady has a lot going for her and will probably be asking me to photograph her CD cover images in the near future. ;) Good luck and Congratulations Charlotte!

Today I realized that I had finished up my post about this awesome couple but never actually posted it. I guess that is what working with a classroom full of first graders the last three weeks of school will do to ya. ;)

So, without further ado, meet Andrea and Kyle:

These guys were such a pleasure to work with! They were spunky and fun and I never knew what they were going to do when I pointed the camera in their direction. They were married by the lake at the 4H Center on a beautiful May day. It was cool and a little windy that day but we all made it through and I was able to capture much of their personalities in their photos.

Congrats to Andrea and Kyle.....ENJOY!

I can't remember what was said that embarassed Andrea's mom in this shot, but we all had a good laugh!

It took the entire group of guys to get this little guy "put together" and boy did he look handsome when they finished!

When I asked for a little interaction, these guys went out of their way to make me laugh. They definitely made the day fun!

There was a biker rally the same day and all the bikers were honking and waving as we were finishing up their photos.

I did NOT tell Kyle to do this and Andrea's expression?.....PRICELESS!

I love the lighting here as she dances with her dad.

Why do the guys always want to dance with the groom during the dollar dance? Oh well...it makes for some fun pictures anyway.

I rarely get a shot that I LOVE during the dollar dance but this is the one. I love how the little girl is contemplating putting her money in and you can see both Andrea and Kyle dancing and enjoying themselves.

My New Assistant

I would like to introduce my new assistant, Liz. She will be filling in for April this summer when she has her baby. Right now Liz is training and will be tagging along on a few weddings while April is still working. These are some fun shots from our wedding back in April. As you can see, she is a lot of fun (even a bit crazy at times)!

Alison + Jeremey {evansville wedding photographer}

Alison and Jeremey were married last weekend at St. Benedict's Cathedral. The wedding went off with only one hitch - the bride and groom, of course. It was a beautiful sunny day with a mild breeze blowing which made for some awesome weather to do some outside photos. After the wedding, we spent a little time on the golf course at The Evansville Country Club, then went inside to enjoy a nice meal and some dancing. Their love for each other was so obvious to me back in December during their E-session and even more so on their wedding day. Congrats Alison and Jeremey and enjoy your images!

The flowers were beautifully arranged by Jamie with J'Petals in Henderson, KY.

The little ring bearer was just too cute when he peeked into the bride's room.

After Alison put Jeremey's ring on the priest said that it would never come off!

This must have been their "something new" because I have never before seen this in Evansville. These were helium filled doves that fluttered in the breeze and flew overhead for awhile before they finally flew away. They ordered these from out of the country, I was told.

I love how in the shadows they look like one person. :)
The event was planned by the amazing Veronica Hamilton with V&Co.

The yummy cake was baked by Piece of Cake. If you haven't tried their cake, stop in their downtown shop and have a cupcake sometime....YUM!

I did it! I have finally been accepted into the WPJA. I applied several years ago and was not accepted. Over the past few years, I feel that I have reached a turning point in my photography career. I now strive to cover weddings in a documentary style and WPJA has taken notice. Megan + Josh E-session {evansville portrait photographer}

Today I was working on a new system for posting images on my blog and I realized that I didn't post any pics from Megan and Josh's E-session back in January. (Yes, this was a couple of snows ago!) These guys won one of my mini-sessions at the bridal show in January and we decided it would be an awesome day to go play in the snow that fell the night before. It was very cold but it kept us moving and on our toes. We ended up at the Vanderburgh County 4H trying to stay warm inside the covered bridge. Seeing the playground all covered in white, I just couldn't resist having them go on a merry-go-round ride and even a little time on the big slide. They are getting married in July where there will be NO chance for snow! Congratulations Megan and Josh!

Alison found a Newburgh trolley on Saturday and we decided to do quite a few images inside it (since it was warm in there). We walked around Newburgh quite a bit to keep warm and found some great locations to shoot. I had a great time with you guys and am looking forward to April when you tie the knot!

This afternoon I met Alison and Jeremey in downtown Newburgh for their E-session. It was cold! I think they enjoyed keeping each other warm by snuggling up though. I wanted to put a couple of images up here right away to surprise Alison's mom. We ended up at her house and took some much requested photos in front of the tree. You have a beautiful home Marilyn! Nicole + Casey {evansville wedding photographer}

Nicole and Casey were married last weekend on a beautiful fall day at A Day to Remember Wedding Chapel. They couldn't have asked for better weather in November. We started the morning off at Rhythm Salon in Newburgh while the guys hung out in the bar at Edgewater Grille. The happy couple decided to see each other before the ceremony so we walked along the river in Newburgh and went sight-seeing around downtown looking for nice locations to shoot. The ceremony went off without a hitch (well, only one) and then we were off to the 4H Expo Hall for drinks, food from Schnitzelbank and some "get-down" dancing. There was even some "chicken dancing" against Nicole's better judgement. (one of the guests offered to pay the dj to play it) Congrats to Nicole and Casey and thank you for sharing such a wonderful day with us!

MUST be quiet!

IF anyone tries to call me over the next few days, you may want to try to email me instead. I went back to the doctor today after having no voice for almost 5 weeks and he gave me some (hopefully) good drugs. He also told me to quit talking and rest my voice. The bridal show is Sunday so I am saving up for that!

Thanks in advance to all of my wonderful clients for being understanding. If you have spoken to me in the last month, you will understand why I cannot answer my phone for the next few days. :)

I had the most amazing time yesterday in New Harmony with Andrea and Kyle! I don't do much shooting in New Harmony so it was fun to try out some new locations. Of course, these guys were a hoot and so easy to work with. They were having fun being silly and I had lots of fun capturing all of their crazy antics! Their little doggie Bernice came along and enjoyed trying to dig up frogs in the bean field. Enjoy their pics!

Casey and Cole will be getting married next September and I am very excited that they selected me to photograph their wedding. I have know Casey for a VERY long time since I am friends with her mother. Boy...that makes me feel old! We had a blast running around downtown and Garvin Park and even went out to some "top secret" locations for some amazing shots. The evening ended with a perfect sunset so we went back downtown to catch it on the riverfront. Enjoy their images - I sure had fun taking them!

This happy couple was married back on October 3rd at Christian Fellowship Church. They were so wonderful to work with and their son, Logan was just a hoot. They followed up the wedding with a reception at The Ivy Room with amazing food and lots of dancing. The evening ended (for me, at least) with Allison's dad leading all of the guests in a crazy dance to Mony Mony. It was such a pleasure to share my Saturday with these two and I am so happy for them!

Bad photograper!...I almost forgot to post Jane & Wayne's wedding images on my blog. This wonderful couple was married on September 12th in Madisonville. You can just tell from the images that these two are really in love! It was such a beautiful day and the garden at the church was such a wonderful location for some outdoor photos. Most of their family was in the wedding including lots of cute little neices and grandchildren.

Molly + Peter {evansville wedding photographer}

I must say that this is one of the most eventful weddings I have shot all year. Molly and Peter were married in an afternoon ceremony at St. John's UCC. It was a beautiful ceremony and about halfway through I kept hearing a noise. It took a few times and when I noticed how little light was coming through the stained glass windows, I realized that it was thunder. I was thinking "Man, we probably won't be able to do the pics at UE". Thankfully, we had done all of the must-have pictures before the ceremony while it was still pretty outside. We ended up having the bubbles in the fellowship hall while many guests waited out the storm. We decided to meet at Blush for a few more pictures of the bridal party. While taking pictures there, we discovered that Germania Maennerchor's power was out. When we entered the reception everything was lit by candlelight which was beautiful, but very hard to focus a camera in almost complete darkness. At dinnertime when Molly's dad started the prayer, the lights came back on, everyone cheered and then he finished the prayer and was very thankful for the "divine intervention". It was definitely an evening to remember!

Peter's Grandfather must have gotten tired of the paparazzi.

Squirrel Rescue

This afternoon our outdoor cat Koda was having a ball batting what I thought was a mouse around our front yard. After watching through the window for about 10 minutes, I decided to go check it out and find out what it was and why he hadn't killed it yet. He is always bringing us dead mice and moles and is always so proud to have caught them, but for some reason he just wanted to smack this one around and make it try to run away. After having a closer look, I realized that he had a baby squirrel that had fallen from the nest. We are attempting to care for it now so that it can be returned to the wild in the spring. I spoke to a lady whose name was given to me by Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve that knows quite a bit about caring for baby squirrels. So, wish us luck as we bottle feed this little one in hopes of releasing him back to nature. Oh...I almost forgot to mention that he is a flying squirrel. I didn't even know we had those around here!

He is sitting on my cell phone so that you can see how small he is! About the size of a small hamster or a field mouse.

Something different {evansville wedding photographer}

Last weekend, I tagged along with my friend Matt with Vickers Photo as a 2nd photographer. I love being the 2nd because it gives me a chance to try new things with none of the pressure of the "must-have" shots. For some reason, this wedding inspired me to post all black and whites on my blog. I love black and white photography because it is so classic and timeless. Since I started shooting with the D700, I haven't done much black and white because the color from that camera is so beautiful. This is Natasha and Michael and they were married at St. Ben's Catholic Church with the reception following at Rolling Hills Country Club. The dinner was amazing and they had a few surprises like Natasha singing the first dance song to Michael and Natasha's sister doing a salsa dance.

Andrew {evansville children's photographer}

Every so often, I have to post a few images of my own (favorite) little munckin. Since Andrew got to go with me to shoot on Sunday, he made a deal that I got to photograph him too. He watched a show recently on Extreme skateboarding and he has decided (for now) that is what he wants to do. So we took a few shots at the park with his skateboard while waiting for my clients to arrive. After the session, we stopped by the lake by Cracker Barrel and fed the ducks and geese. At least Andrew is taller than a goose now and feels much less threatened when they try to eat from his hand.

Photographer in Training?

Today I had a session at Audubon Park to photograph two lovely girls, Piper and Lily and Piper's older brother, Garrett. As I was getting ready Andrew decided that he would like to go along with me and bring his camera so that he could "help" me take pictures. At the end of the session he asked if I was going to pay him and he boldly reminded me that "April doesn't take pictures with you for FREE, Mom!" So, he got paid $3.00 and was very happy. I do have to say that is the cheapest 2nd photographer I have ever hired. Here are several pictures that he took with his camera. He is getting pretty good!

The girls were really into posing for Andrew more than for me. I guess they felt less threatened by another "little people". They loved chimping the shots with him!

On 8/8/09, Karen and Mark said their "I do's" at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The day began pretty early for me at Burdette Park with the girls getting ready at one of the chalets. April, my assistant, got to hop in the limo with the girls on the ride to the church for a little girly fun. After the ceremony, we took a few pictures by the lake at Burdette and then it was on to The Discovery Lodge for the party. It was an amazing day and with such a fun couple, who could ask for more? We ended the evening with a little "slide fun". Congrats to Karen and Mark and a BIG thank you for allowing me to photograph your day!

Krystal + Levi {evansville wedding photographer}

Krystal and Levi were married on July 18th in Princeton, IN. They had a wonderul day for a wedding! During the formals before the wedding, Krystal's dad was talking about how he planned to walk her down the aisle without his walker. Well, he sure was determined and he did it! It was a very emotional time during the wedding. There was one other wedding I can remember where my eyes got teary when the bride's father walked her down and that was when my dad walked my sister down to give her away. The wedding went perfect and then we gathered all 31 people in the bridal party up for a few photos. There were 5 little ones in this wedding who didn't seem to all want to be in the same picture. Then there was a hayride to the reception and some awesome desserts. Congratulations to Krystal and Levi!

Before I talk about this awesome couple, I must apologize for neglecting my blog. I have been on a much needed vacation to Florida and am now back to work (even though still a bit unorganized).

Cindi and Tyson were married on 6/20/09 at USI's Art Gallery. It was one of the most amazing ceremonies I have had the pleasure of photographing. They wrote their own vows and there was barely a dry eye in the place when they were reading them. I even had a hard time focusing the camera during this one. Cindi's daughter Madison was a big help and made the day even more fun. One of the most memorable quotes of the day was when Cindi said "I told Madison that this is our wedding and she has taken that literally." The evening ended with dinner and dancing at Casino Aztar's Walnut Room. It was very hard for me to relax and enjoy vacation knowing that I had to wait til I returned home to review these images. Earlier this week, I traveled to Kentucky to photograph Emmett. He is just having his 6 month birthday and Kristi wanted some relaxed, but professional portraits of him at their home. Emett's parents, Brian and Kristi were married about 4 years ago (correct me if I am wrong, guys) and have stayed in touch with me ever since. I had such fun photographing Emmett and the family pets and I am sure he is about one of the cutest baby boys I have met. He has the most amazing blue eyes! Emmett also has a thing for animals. I think if he could have gotten one in his mouth it would be history. Emmett's kitten's name is Gully - I think it is because she is so "gullible". I feel bad that somehow I slipped up and didn't post any images from this wedding on my blog. Sorry guys! Amy and Mark were married on May 23rd at Old North United Methodist Church. Their wedding took place in the small chapel which is beautifully lit with stained glass windows. Their ceremony went off without a hitch (no pun intended) and their reception was held in the fellowship hall at the church. The tables were covered with different table cloths that people in their families have stitched throughout the years which was a very nice touch. Congratulations Amy and Mark - enjoy your images!

Beth and Brian were married last Saturday at St. Wendel Catholic Church. I have known Beth's family for about 8 years so this was a F-U-N wedding! The happy couple saw each other prior to the ceremony so we were able to finish all the photos beforehand. I later found out the reason they decided to do this. The entire bridal party had their "getaway" in Jeeps - 10 of them. They drove to a friend's nearby farm and tailgated between the wedding and reception. This group sure knows how to throw a party! We then headed to Knights of St. John for the reception. It has been recently renovated and is an awesome place for a reception. On May 2nd, Kate and Alex were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at New Harmony's Roofless Church. Thankfully, the rain held out and we were able to be outside for both the wedding and reception. Kirby's Private Dining catered the lunch which was served under a tent on the lawn of The Atheneum. Ethel + Bill 50th Wedding Anniversary {evansville event photographer}

On April 25th, David's parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. We had a luncheon for them the next day at Kirby's Private Dining. The food and service was excellent (as always) and we had a wonderful time visiting with family and friends. We enjoyed a bit of laughter when they cut the cake that my friend Kay made. Bill was supposed to feed Ethel a piece of cake but he ate it himself. She laughed so hard I didn't think she would be able to eat a bite of cake and I had a hard time taking the pictures because I was laughing too. I guess when you've been married for 50 years, you can have a little blunder at your party.

Lauren and Eric were married on April 25, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist in downtown Evansville. It was a beautiful day with temperatures in the 80's (a big difference from Lauren's brother's wedding last April when it was in the 40's). After a wonderful wedding ceremony, we headed to The Evansville Country Club for a scrumptious meal, a yummy cake made by Lauren's aunt and some cut-loose dancing. Joan and Todd had a very nice wedding last weekend at New Bethel Baptist Church. They decided to see each other before the ceremony so that they could head straight to the reception at Kokie's Echo Valley. We had a beautiful day and were even able to spend some time taking photos at Burdette Park before the wedding. Joan's son Wyatt walked her down the aisle and gave her away. Last Friday, I traveled to Indianapolis to help my good friend Connie Phillips with Joy and Michael's wedding at The Mansion. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the venue was amazing! I really wish we had something like this here in Evansville. I had a hard time picking my favorite images for this wedding, so sit back, grab your cup of coffee and ENJOY!

Joy's dad put red roses around when he married her mom, so Michael did the same thing for Joy to surprise her. How sweet!

There wasn't a dry eye in the place! (even mine...)

Last weekend, I had a wonderful time photographing Brad and Jennifer's wedding at an adorable little country church in Hawesville, KY. Their reception followed at The Summit Golf and Country Club in Owensboro. This was my first visit to The Summit and I must say, it was gorgeous! We took a long ride on the golf cart to take some photos by a lake that we never found. My photographer friend Connie Phillips drove down from Indy and helped me out. After almost tipping the golfcart on a hill while we were standing on the back (my heart skipped about 3 beats), we arrived safely at the clubhouse to enjoy dinner, cocktails and dancing. I think this is a wonderful alternative to the white cardboard box that the albums come in. I had a bride pick up her album on Thursday in the new black cover and it was a big hit! Jocelyn - Downtown Paparazzi Shoot {evansville portrait photographer}

So a few weeks ago I emailed my friend from Crossroads orchestra and asked her if she would model for me when she was in town for spring break. Happily she accepted BEFORE she knew that the paparazzi would be following her around (see previous post). It was an amazingly fun shoot. We even had a few of the downtown workers asking if they could purchase one of her images. Jocelyn joined us for lunch and was even privileged to sit by Ranger (since Matt bites). Thanks Jocelyn for a fun and successful shoot!

I almost forgot to mention that Jocelyn is a Music Education major which is why we did the fun shots with her flute (so that she can use them on her album cover when she becomes famous).

Fun with Friends {evansville wedding photographer}

Yesterday I had a model shoot in downtown Evansville, but more about that later. The shoot actually turned into the paparazzi with my good friend and photographer, Matt Vickers and wedding and event planner, Saundra Hadley joining us. Oh! And who could forget about Ranger, Saundra's dog. He was so happy to be outside on such a nice day that his tail (and backside) barely stopped wagging. After a couple hours of shooting and walking around downtown, we stopped at The Jungle Restaurant for a nice outdoor meal (so that Ranger could join us). Poor Ranger, his mommy made him wait until she was finished eating before he could have the leftover french fries. He was more than happy to do a few tricks for them and was even happier when he actually got to eat them.

By the way, I was able to try out my new D700 and I am in LOVE! What an amazing upgrade this camera is. Just look at the yummy backgrounds in these shots of Ranger.

Ice Storm

Well, now that the pictures have been up for a couple of days, I can tell our story. I wish I could say that I enjoyed going out to take pictures after the ice storm, but it was actually an afterthought and the ice was almost gone. We were without power from Tuesday night through Saturday night but luckily we were able to score a generator and had all the necessities - heat, fridge, 50" plasma, one lamp...you know all the important stuff. The worst part of all this was Tuesday night. David woke me up at 1am to tell me part of our tree had fallen on my car so he moved both of our cars across the street away from the trees. We then decided to sleep in the living room since our bedroom was right under the huge tree in our frontyard (see first picture). I was a little freaked out by all the big limbs falling on our house so Andrew and I curled up on his bottom bunk bed. I thought if a tree hit the house at least we would be somewhat protected and in the back of the house where there aren't as many trees. I didn't fall back to sleep until 7am and by then it was getting pretty cold in our house. The next day it got down to 56 degrees in the house before we got a generator hooked up. We even had a couple of refugees at our house one night. David's parents lost power too and spent one night at our house since we at least had heat. I didn't actually get out and take pictures until Friday and Saturday since we were so occupied with surviving and getting things back in order at our house. I really enjoyed taking pictures on Saturday since I was alone and could go where I wanted. Now that life is back to normal I can start back to work this week. If you have called me or emailed me and haven't gotten a response just try again and I apologize in advance if you were lost in the shuffle.

The little spruce in our front yard survived another year so that he can be warmed by Christmas lights again next year.

I took a few shots from McDonald Golf Course on Morgan Avenue but as I was walking around hearing the ice crunch under my feet I was worried I might step onto a pond or lake and left rather quickly.

I have always loved this covered bridge at the 4H Center and I realized that I love it even more in snow.

There were about 50 geese in a field by the new Menard's store on Green River Road. They stuck around for me to photograph them as long as I stayed in the car.

A perfect end to the day on Saturday was the sunset on South Green River Road by the Henderson Bridge.

Well, the show was a huge hit...what more can I say? I will leave you with a few images to show how much fun we had talking to brides and other vendors.
My new booth is lime green, black and white to match the new logo. I think that I received as many compliments on my booth as I did on my photography.
So, I am shopping at Michael's the day before the show and I come across these cute little boxes that match my colors exactly! They made perfect business card holders.
We actually passed out brochures with our new packages. You can choose from these or you can design your own package now. AND we are including a CD of high resolution image files in EVERY package - even if you design the package. What a deal!

This is Jeannie whose reception I photographed last July. She has been my "spokesbride" for the past couple of shows. She went to St. Lucia and got married so I photographed her family formals, reception and many images of her and new hubby, Marcus. She is beside herself in this picture. (That is her and Marcus in the 20x24 canvas that is in the background. By the way, she got to take that image home with her for helping me.)

I couldn't resist so many brides in one place, but I really like the nostalgic look to this photo because of the little girl that is gazing up at the bride. She is probably dreaming of her own wedding in 10-15 years.

I had the pleasure of photographing Natalie & Keith's wedding on December 27th at The Bauerhaus. It was a record-breaking day with the temperature reaching over 70 degrees. I believe they could have had this wedding outdoors! We were able to get outside after the rain stopped for quite a few images. Natalie's laughter and smile are contagious. I don't think there is an image where she isn't smiling about something. The way she looks at Keith is amazing! I had such a wonderful time with you both and hope you enjoy your images for many years to come.

On Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing Tyson and Cindi at their home with their kitties and Cindi's daughter, Madison. Then we went out to USI where they both work and finished up with their Engagement Session. It was pretty warm outside in the sun but unfortunately, we needed shade for photos so we didn't stay out for long. Luckily USI has an awesome library with wonderful window light so we snuck in for a few photos. This wonderful couple will be married next June in the new Art Gallery at USI which I am really looking forward to. Thanks for such a wonderful session guys!

I almost forgot the most important members of the family. The first one is Ernie who typically doesn't like strangers, yet he followed me around posing for photos while I was at their home. And the second one is Sam. He is the "chosen one" since he has been with Cindi the longest. He must be very special because he was the only kitty to be in their family photo. There were three others, two of which I was able to see for about 1/30th of a second, much faster than the shutter in my camera.

Anyway, his teacher asked me to take some photos of her and her brother for their parents' anniversary. Andrew was lucky enough to get a photo with his teacher and then I took his photo too since his school pictures didn't turn out very well. I forgot to mention, he is also my little model. :)

On Sunday, we participated in the Heart's Desire Bridal Show at Casino Aztar. This was the first year for the show and it was a great success! We had over 100 brides come through, many of which I had the pleasure of talking to and discussing their upcoming wedding plans. I still have some dates open for 2009, but hurry because they are filling up fast. My booth design had a complete makeover this year to match my new logo and the lime green was a hit. I received many compliments on the new booth which made it worth the days of sewing that my mom and I did. Thanks Mom! My "partner in crime" was Jeannie, one of my brides from this summer. She was wonderful to work with and she was able to talk to quite a few brides at the show also. Thanks Jeannie!

IU Roadtrip

This weekend, the Forche family went to Nashville and Bloomington, Indiana for our fall getaway. This was the first time I was able to go because I usually have weddings every weekend in October and this happened to be my first weekend off in 7 weeks. We spent the day Friday in Nashville (Brown County) shopping. It started off a bit wet, but turned out to be a pretty nice day despite the cold. Andrew was a trouper since we shopped for about 5 hours. All day I heard "Mom let's go to the toystore" which we had passed in the beginning when we parked. Finally we gave in and walked out of the way back to the toystore. Then all we heard was "When are we going to the hotel?" I just couldn't win! On Saturday, we tailgated in the morning before the game. Fixing breakfast on a grill turned out to be quite interesting. The exciting part of the entire trip was when Andrew poked himself in his eye with a glove right as we were entering the game, so I spent the entire first half of the game in IU's Opthamology School having his eye checked. It turned out that he did scratch his eye so we returned to the game during the 3rd quarter and Andrew sacked out for the entire 4th quarter. I would say that I didn't really get my $65 worth out of our tickets. Oh! And this cold weather we are having now? It was in Bloomington Saturday morning where we started out at a whopping 38 degrees! Talk about cold!

I almost forgot...IU beat Northwestern 21-19 which is their first win in 7 weeks, I believe.

Jessica + Craig

Jessica and Craig were married last Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. This is the 3rd wedding I have done for the Elliott family so I am on a "first name" basis with this family. Jessica wanted their wedding day to be simple and care-free and she definitely succeeded. We had such a relaxed afternoon doing formals in her friend's backyard and even had a few minutes after the ceremony to take the happy couple over for some private time. Then 5 of us piled into Craig's friend's very small car and went up to the Barker overpass to catch the sunset. It was a perfect day that ended with dinner and dancing at the Executive Inn. Congrats Jessica and Craig!

Amanda and Brock were married Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church. April and I got tickled at them during the ceremony when the priest said "I state name, take you...". They got tickled and Amanda started laughing and the rest of the ceremony was a hoot. You can tell these two are very much in love by how expressive they are in their photos. Before the ceremony we took some photos of the girls in front of a beautiful cornfield only to see that after the ceremony, it had been cut down. The reception was at the lovely Holiday Inn (they have scrumptious food, by the way) and Brock even found time to do his Stayin' Alive dance at the end of the reception. Congratulations guys!

Apparently, my cat likes corn on the cob. On Sunday we went to Engelbrecht's Orchard and picked up 3 ears of sweet corn. I left it on the counter and last night my husband asked me if we were planning on eating it. I said yes and he proceeds to tell me that the cat wanted to eat it too. He just about devoured 3 ears of uncooked corn. I am surprised that he isn't sick today! Anyway, here is a picture of the corn after he tore into the bag:

Ethan Goes Home 09/25

Today I saw Ethan at the hospital for the last time because HE IS GOING HOME! I am so happy for him and his family. He is just now up to 5 pounds and breathing on his own, so he is able to join his family. He wasn't too excited about getting into his going home outfit but he really seemed to like his carseat. I am sure all the nurses in NICU will miss you Ethan, but I sure am happy that you are well enough to go home.

Susan and Andy were married in Vincennes this past weekend. It was a lovely wedding and the rain held out for most of the day (at least until the reception). During the photo session prior to the wedding we decided to take some photos of the girls in the grass. Note to self: Never take girls in grass that used to be a field. As soon as we got into the grass, everyone thought they were being bitten by bugs, but turns out there are cockaburs all over the place. We had fun picking them off each other and then off to take more photos. Sorry girls! Anyway, it was a wonderful day and I really enjoyed trying some of the new flash techniques that I learned last week at the workshop. Congratulations Susan and Andy! I really enjoyed working with you both.

Flash Workshop

Last week I went to Indianapolis for a 12 hour workshop on flash photography with Neil VanNiekerk. It was a great workshop and I feel that my use of flash will continue to improve over time with this workshop. We had 2 great models, Dawn & Brooke, to take photos of. They were awesome and it was a long day for them too. Can you imagine having 8 photographers pointing cameras with flashes at you for almost 10 hours? I sure am glad I wasn't on their side of the camera! Here are a few of my favorites from the workshop:

Last night I received a call from Ethan's daddy with some wonderful news - he is going home on Thursday. YAY! I am so happy that he is all big and healthy and can finally go home to his parents. I am also a bit sad because I will miss visiting this little guy every week. I will be photographing him for the last time (at the hospital) on Thursday morning while he is getting ready to go home. For now, here are the images I shot today. He had his breathing tubes out for the first time so you can really see his cute little face.
